The January meeting for the club was special as it was a first in this region. The meeting was held at the Wiltshire Museum, Devizes hosted by and on the invite of David Dawson (Director). Wil Partridge the new FLO for the county also attended. During a short formal meeting with tea, coffee and biscuits, Wil was introduced, and David gave an outline of future plans for the Museum.
David then took the whole group on a guided tour of the museum displays. Throughout he gave an in depth presentation which made this meeting very informative and special. The group visited the archives and were shown items not displayed at present.
I have recently visited the Ashmolean in Oxford: Fishbourne Roman Palace: Newbury: Bristol and Cirencester museums. If anyone is in this area and hasn't visited the Wiltshire Museum it is worth doing, because in my opinion there are far better quality displays of interest to me than in those listed.
